Monique Lhuillier’s collection might be the most beautiful to show at New York Fashion Week season after season. She is probably most known for her wedding gowns, but at fashion week she shows beautiful, colorful, feminine, elegant dresses and gowns that you might picture celebrities in on the red carpet. One thing that excites me most each season at Lhuillier’s show is not knowing what to expect in terms of the actual show – she always does something unique. Last season she split the room in half and had the models walk down the runway and onto a maze on risers across from where all of the guests were seated (see here), or who can forget her 2015 Spring collection show where she had candy-colored large sequins falling from the ceiling to match her pastel hued frocks! Such a treat! This season it was all about geometric shapes, so the creative designer hung geometric cut-outs from the ceiling that moved around to change colors to match what the audience was seeing on the runway! Her palette consisted mostly of emerald green, fuchsia and bold blues, with occasional white and black mixed in. I love Lhuillier’s entire collection, but if I had to narrow it down, these are my top 5 picks from Spring 16!
