FAQ

A few questions you might want to ask me are answered here and of course always leave me a comment with any other questions!

When did you start your blog?  I launched The Style Editrix September 2013 when I needed to have my own creative outlet.

How did you start your blog?  I always say just start as soon as you can because that is what I did.  I came up with a name, bought the domain, bought a wordpress site template on Etsy, took some coding and photoshop classes, bought a camera and got my husband on board – all within a week.  The rest is history!

What type of camera do you use?  My husband shoots with our Canon EOS 50D DSLR Camera and a Canon 50 mm Lens and my photographer shoots with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III.

What did you do before you started your blog?  As you might have read on my About page, I worked as the Fashion & Lifestyle Producer at E! News for two and a half years before leaving to go off on my own.  I was at E! for seven years total; first as an Intern for True Hollywood Story and Fashion Police, then I got hired the week after graduating college as the Assistant to the Executive Producer of E! News, I got promoted to be a Coordinator and then Correspondent for E! News and E! Online interviewing celebrities, covering events and breaking news.

Where are you from?  I was born and raised in Louisville Kentucky, where most of my family still resides.  I went to the University of Louisville, except for my Junior Year when I transferred for a year to Cal State San Bernardino and interned at E!.  I moved back to Louisville for my senior year to graduate.

How did you get your job and internship at E!?  Persistance is key and research is also very important.  First, I did not land my internship until after applying for three semesters and once I moved to LA I finally got a call back.  it was not for E! News like I had hoped, but I was willing to do anything at E! so I took the THS one.  I then volunteered to work extra hours, help more people, met as many people as I could and asked to go out on interviews and more.  Though I had to go back to Kentucky for my senior year I made sure to stay in touch with my HR contact as well as other contacts I made while working.  Once there was a job open they called me because I never stopped asking for it!

Who is your role model?  Oprah and my mom are my role role models.  My mom always told me to shoot for the stars and I could be whatever I wanted to be.  Even though she and I are super close she was also the one who told me I had to move to LA to follow my dreams.  Oprah is one the best interviewers and story tellers of our time and is such a warm and grounded human being who is doing good with her celebrity.

Who is your fashion icon?  My fashion icon is Nicole Richie because she has such a strong voice and unique sense of style that she is not afraid to show off.

Make sure to watch my About me video for a super fun Q&A!  Thanks so much for checking out my blog!
