Getting your baby to sleep through the night is one of the most important things as a new mom, in my opinion. I love my sleep and always have and that was all I could think about before I was pregnant and while I was expecting. Because of my fear I read a lot of books about how to get your baby on a good sleeping pattern. No, sleeping is babies is not a mystery. It is not something that is hard to achieve and it is NOT by luck, for the most part. It is due to scheduling and sticking to the same routine everyday. And the biggest thing is once your doctor gives you the ok to let baby sleep at night for longer stretches, it’s super important to make sure baby is getting lots of milk/formula during the day. P.S. if you missed the boat for a routine early on, don’t fear, you can still get your baby to sleep through the night with the help of a sleep trainer. You can find them online and have phone calls to discuss how to go about it. I think your baby has to be 3 or 4 months old before they will recommend this. One I know of in LA is called Sleepy Planet, they also have a book.
