Doug and I were desperate for a vacation after the whole Italy fiasco in November, and since December was crazy with holidays and work, we finally made a plan to getaway to Cabo in January. Cabo is only a two hour flight from LA and in the past few years has been our go-to spot for some R&R when we are able to get childcare for Smith back home. Since it was a holiday weekend, my mom and sisters were able to watch Smith and therefore gave us the green light to book a trip. I knew the Montage had opened a property in Cabo last year and I was dying to check it out, so we booked a room there.

Upon arriving to the Montage Los Cabos we were greeted with the best customer service and friendly faces. While we quickly checked in, they provided us with a delicious welcome Mezcal cocktail and we were ready to unwind. We got a little tour of the beautiful property situated on one of the prettiest beaches in Cabo, Santa Maria Beach, and then headed to check out our room. The rooms are so stunning as is the property. Every detail is well-thought out and done to the nines. The room was comfortable, but very modern and exactly what we needed. We got the oceanview deluxe room and the balcony was so big with a couch and table and chairs and the masterpiece was really the bathroom. Not only was there a beautiful huge bathtub, but also two showers – one indoor and one outdoor! My husband is a designer and was so impressed with every finishing touch – and he is hard to please! The bed was also super comfortable and the bedding so luxe.

We headed straight to the pool to enjoy the sunlight for the remainder of the day and there were literally four levels of pools. A super quiet one removed from any chaos, two in the middle and then the adults-only infinity pool overlooking the ocean. It was so fantastic and there were plenty of sun loungers. The wait staff by the pool is also incredible bringing us all the food and drinks we could want. They were the nicest people who would help with anything they could. The next two days were utter peace and bliss. We had fantastic food, and service and sun! We also got to take paddleboards out into the cove, which was so great. Santa Maria beach is great because it’s a cove so the water is a lot calmer than a lot of parts in Cabo, but it’s also super private and quiet and no vendors, etc on the beach. The Montage offers all the water activities for free as well as lounge chairs on the beach.

Since we have been to Cabo so many times now, I thought I would put together a list of our favorite spots to eat. While we always eat lunch by the pool during the day, we do like to venture out to dinner most nights. Here are some places I love:
–Mi Casa – if you are crazing authentic Mexican cuisine in a cozy casual environment, go here!
–Peninsula at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica – get their soups for sure and everything! Super fresh seafood and local meat and veggies. We also loved the crab goridita, seabass and ravioli. Plus, it’s right on the sand and super romantic – sit outside.
–Sunset Mona Lisa – go watch the most insane sunset from cliffside and order drinks and apps, but they also serve mediterranean dinner.
–Sur Beach House – eat yummy sushi and seafood basically in the sand. So gorgeous here.
–Bar Esquina – so sexy and beautifully done, and they have great salad, pizza, tartar, pasta and more. Plus live music and great drinks! So fun!
–Manta at the Cape Hotel – great Mexican fusion, beautiful atmosphere and very high-end.
–Ediths and Tres Gallos are also great authentic Mexican spots.
*Never made it to Flora Farms because it’s a bit far, but everyone raves about their farm to table cuisine
Bar Esquina, Maro Shrimp House, and Flora Farms are some of our favorites. Mi Casa and The Office are musts for first timers. Rent a Jeep and explore the coast. There’s a ton to see. Cabo Pulmo is a great stop for snorkeling.
Ohhh I love all the recs! Thanks Mike!
