EDITRIX PICKS: GOLDEN GLOBES 2014

MY BEST DRESSED PICK (AND NAILS): Zooey Deschanel, Nominated for best actress in a TV series

zooey

Zooey usually goes for quirky on and off the red carpet, but tonight at the Golden Globes she really dressed to impress – this look is so chic and classy!  I am obsessed with the pale gold color, the beading and metallic details – it’s also Oscar de la Renta, so how can it possibly be bad?!  The shoes, bag and hair accessory are all so perfect too.  To top it off, Zooey never disappoints with her nail art.  My friend and celeb manicurist Tom Bachik does her nails and the “vintage daisy” look is so fun and fresh.  Zooey and Tom really started the nail art trend on the carpet when at last year’s Emmys they did TVs on her nails – I died then and thought it was so innovative!

BEST HAIR: Cate Blanchett, Nominated for Best Actress

CATE-2

I love this uber sophisticated under wrap hairstyle, styled by celebrity hair stylist, Robert Vetica – whom I love!  According to a spokesperson, Robert and Cate wanted a timeless look and were inspired by Grace Kelly’s classic hair look. Cate’s chic hairstyle complemented her Armani Couture black lace dress with a low back perfectly. To finish the look, Robert tucked her hair on the left side to showcase the gorgeous Chopard earrings.

Get The Look:

1. First prep damp hair with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse, applying throughout the hair for lift and hold.

2. Create a low side part and then starting in the back, take a medium boar bristle round brush and blow dry hair down and away from the face, keeping hair flat. Apply a bit more mousse to the front of your hair to help shape your style while giving extra hold to your look.

3. Once hair is dry, spritz Vidal Sassoon Heat Protect & Shine Spray to protect hair before curling it. Using a ¾ inch curling iron, take hair in the back of your head, separate into 2 inch sections and curl.

4. Once the curled hair has cooled, backcomb to create texture and roll hair up into an “underwrap” style, pinning the look into place. Once all the hair has been rolled and pinned, pull a few pieces of hair from the “underwrap” to create a natural look with a little texture.

5. To finish, spray hair with a flexible hold hairspray to lock your look in place.
