BETTER THAN BASIC BLACK

Black everything is my go-to every time I leave the house at night.  It feels understated, yet chic, and is always slimming.  Since I wear a lot of black, I am always on the hunt for new fits and styles and it was love at first sight when I came across this perfectly striped black and gray blouse. Who doesn’t love a good blouse they can wear with jeans or leather pants?!  This top can be casual for a day at the office with a pair of black skinny ankle trousers, or a night out with jeans and heels.  I wore this look for date night with my husband when he took me to Nobu for my birthday and thought it was effortlessly chic.  (To me, date night dressing should always be cute or sexy without trying too hard – most guys, I have learned, aren’t into over-the-top dressing or trends you and your girlfriends think are cool!)  The statement necklace was the perfect way to elevate the look and then simple black heels seemed to add polish.  I always like to throw on an unexpected accessory to make the look my own, so that’s where the multi-colored envelope clutch came in.

P.S. I am a sushi fanatic and if you ever get the chance head to Nobu for an amazing sushi dinner.  I wouldn’t say I am a sushi snob per se, but I really like fresh and creatively made sushi – not a huge fan of complicated rolls, but just simple fresh fish.  Nobu is the real deal and they actually have locations all over the world.  Doug and I ate there when we were in Greece for our honeymoon earlier this year and it was just as good there.  Must-haves: Spicy Tuna and Crispy Rice, Spicy Baked King Crab Roll, Yellowtail Hamachi (with tomato jelly and avocado!) and the Roasted Spicy Edamame.
