It’s the start of one of the biggest weeks in fashion – New York Fashion Week and it’s very exciting. Yes, it is freezing in NY and it’s stressful getting to all of the shows you want to go to, but the energy and beauty and magic that these designers work is beyond incredible and amazing. I feel very lucky that this is my third year heading to shows. Keep reading for what shows and trends I saw on Day 1.
My favorite look from the BCBG show
BCBG is always one of my favorite shows and the very first show of my fashion week schedule every season. It’s beautiful and very on-trend, but best of all one of the most wearable shows. It is not haute couture, but actually things you and I will be investing in come Fall/Winter 2014. I was lucky enough to have them dress me this year for the show and seat me in front row! At first I didn’t know if I could pull off a crop top with these low temps, but I was willing to do it for fashion and I love the look. It’s sophisticated and saucy at the same time. Perfect for spring and again love the black and white combo. The trends from the runway was fur skirts, accents, leather and beading on tops and bottom. They did a lot of silks and black. Super chic for next fall.
I also got to see the Rock’n Roll vibes at Jay Godfrey and the gorgeous and beautiful baubles from Dannijo – big statement necklaces are here to stay. I ended my night at the launch party for Peter Pilotto’s Target collection – I have to say I want one of everything! Keep following me throughout the next week for lots of fashion week updates and photos of looks I wore and saw – here and on Instagram @thestyleeditrix.
