EDITRIX PICKS: SPRING DRESSES

spring-dresses

Even if you believe in the folklore of Groundhog Day (the groundhog saw his shadow on February 2, which according to legend means there are six more weeks of winter – bah humbug!) you should still get in the mood to show off your gams and invest in a few dresses to take you through spring and summer.  Since I am more of a jeans girl, you have to really convince me I can wear a dress on several occasions before I will pull the trigger.  With this in mind, these six dresses above are my top picks for you and me this spring!  I am all about color, color-blocking, and definitely prints – stripes are still huge!  Consider the best shape for your body type when picking a dress instead of being swayed by a trend.  I generally opt for a shift or fit-and-flare shape, but this season I am stepping out of my comfort zone a bit and going with body-con and figure-flattering shapes.  That said, make sure you don’t stray too far from your comfort zone because there is nothing worse than being exposed in a dress that you don’t think flatters you.  Another tip I want to part with is nothing should be too short, too tight and with too much going on all at the same time i.e. if the dress is on the shorter side, it should be on the looser side; if it is jeweled or beaded it should also probably be a little longer and/or looser.  You definitely don’t want to give off that street-walker vibe lol!  Lastly, I recently got asked about wearing dresses in the office.  Make sure it passes the “school-girl test” meaning it should be longer than where your finger-tips hit your thighs or use your discretion if it’s a little too revealing at the neckline or when you sit down.  Keep it classy ladies!
