BARCELONA CITY GUIDE

Aghhh we are back from our babymoon and now it’s time to start sharing all of the videos and guides to the four amazing cities we explored.  We started off in Barcelona and had a great time!  Here you will find where to stay, what to eat and see!  Let me know if you like these type of travel diaries in the comments below – more coming as I have one for every city.

Where to Stay:  If you want to stay in the heart of the city, you can stay off La Rambla, which is one of the huge tourist/shopping streets in Barcelona.  We stayed at Hotel 1898 right off La Rambla and really liked it, though I am not a fan of La Rambla in particular because it is so crowded and not very nice.  The hotel itself was super cutely decorated, modern and clean.  It has had a great rooftop pool and bar scene that was awesome.  We were able to walk to lots of sites, restaurants and shops because it was so central.  You could also stay at the W or Ritz by the beach, but you won’t be nearly as close to the city sites.

Where to Eat:  We had so many great meals in Barcelona.  It seems like the city is full of yummy food!  Fortunately before we got to the city we got recommendations from a few friends (thanks Ashlee and Amy!) to help us navigate the many choices.  The first night we had an awesome Spanish tapas dinner at Tapas24.  The atmosphere was loud and fun and the small plates were so delicious.  Definitely order the jamon iberico and pan con tomato.  And there is always a wait so try to make a ressie if you can or don’t go starving!

Brunch the next day was also awesome at Brunch and Cake.  They had so many healthy and non-healthy Americanized brunch options and also a few Spanish specialties.  It was so cute inside and outside.  They also had fresh juices there that we loved and great coffees.

The second night we wanted a nicer dinner so tried Boca Grade after two different friends both recommended it.  It was chic and also yummy, but definitely more upscale.  We tried the paella and a few other Spanish dishes including meats and cheeses and were not disappointed.  The olives were so good too!

The last day there we were in the mood for pizza and tried this little place next to our hotel that did wood-fire oven pizzas and it was awesome.  It was called Luzia and all of the ingredients were super fresh and delish!

What to See:  There is a lot to see in Barcelona, but we were in and out of the city in 48 hours we didn’t have a ton of time.  I definitely recommend going to the Picasso Museum (that he curated himself before he died), the old gothic area right by the museum, and the Gaudi Museum.  We never made it to a castle (near Olympic Stadium) or the beach or the famous Park Gruell, but we still had a great time.
